Commonplace book, ca. 1864.

An album, inscribed "Eliza Mayer, March 12, 1864, Baltimore." Contains poems, stories, and other writing transcribed by Eliza, as well as laid-in newspaper clippings and pressed plant material. Mayer was the daughter of Maryland-born author, scientist, and historian Brantz Mayer. References are made throughout the album to members of her circle.
